55. Roles and responsibilities of teachers and support personnel in
educational practice for students who are deaf or hard of hearing (e.g., educational interpreters,

'97 e.g., (1) Field experiences in oral/aural settings, with classroom teachers and
college/university supervisors who have academic preparation, experience, and skill in oral/aural teaching.
(2) Field experiences in multiple settings that provide for interactions and work with children from a variety of ages and
developmental levels, and who reflect social and cultural diversity. (3) Field experiences that conclude with full
day teaching responsibilities. (4) Field experiences that provide each candidate opportunity to fulfill the typical responsibilities
of teaching: preparation of lesson plans, instruction and organization, classroom management, meeting school
deadlines, keeping accurate records of student work, and making parent/teacher contacts. (5) Knowledge gained
from provision of structured observation and regular written feedback: (a) Describing strengths, weaknesses, and suggestions
for improvement, (b) From both college/university supervisors and supervising teachers.
