27. Sources of specialized materials for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
a. Comprehensive
'97 e.g., (1) Procedures for identifying deficiencies in existing curricula and strategies to modify the curriculum to effectively address students' linguistic and developmental needs. (2) Knowledge of linguistics (semantics, pragmatics, syntax, and phonology/cherology) and sociolinguistics: (a) Orthographic phonetic systems used in educational environments, (b) Theories and applications of second language teaching; (c) Basic concepts regarding the natural effects of contacts between languages and the implications of this information for the instructional program, (d) Regional, social, and developmental varieties of language, (e) The relationship and difference between ASL and other communication modes, (f) Structural differences between a child's first and second languages.
