COLLEGE PROFILE

Purpose:
To familiarize the user with National School Information and to challenge the user to seek out the best school for that individual even if it is outside the state.

Procedures:

  1. Have participants choose three schools located in different parts of the country that they might like to attend.
  2. Have them use the CIS National School File (NSCH) and the national school topics to gather information about all three schools. Include general information, programs of study, selectivity, cost of living arrangements, special programs, and other topics of interest to the individual user.
  3. Have participants record information on the worksheet and write a college profile for each college as though they were the Director of Admissions. Users may want to check the Guide to American Colleges for content and format.
  4. Now, have participants write about each school as a new student telling about the first term and sharing with a best friend back home. Have them tell the friend all about the school, the good, the bad, and the indifferent.
