II. WHAT ARE THE COMMON MODIFICATIONS TEACHERS MAKE USE OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION?

COMMON MODIFICATIONS OF THE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM

The curriculum itself is not what is modified. It is the additional modalities used to convey the curriculum that is different when teaching special education and hearing impaired students. Additional modalities that may be used include:

use of a sign system
drawings, charts, and/or graphs

Many teachers also indicated that they followed the same curriculum but progressed through it at a slower rate, taking into account the students' developmental age as opposed to their chronological age.
