When teaching science to deaf children modifications are usually implemented. Many of the modifications included in the preceding materials accommodate the student's language deficiencies. The following thought transference summarizes the methods teachers are incorporating into their instruction. The curriculum itself is not modified, the modification lies in the communication of knowledge.

Modifying Science Curriculums for Deaf Students--Insights from a Curriculum Specialist

Each teacher incorporates different modifications depending on the needs of each individual student. Consequently, several modifications could be utilized simultaneously during the course of one lesson. These modifications are a representative sample of possible adaptations used in a deaf education classroom to the already existing curriculum packages. The adaptations are necessary due to the lack of a developed curriculum for deaf education.
