In cases involving Deaf children, it seems that Hearing parents (particularly mothers) have a harder time setting up interactional context. They fear leaving their child alone for one minute in unfamiliar settings.
These parents become overprotective of their Deaf children and tend to manipulate and dictate the interactions with their child. They also feel obligated to speak for their child when they feel itís necessary.
