Rubicon is referred to in the play, The Glass Menagerie by the allusion Rubicam's Business School. The Rubicon is a stream in Rimini, Italy that Caesar made famous while he was governor of Gaul. It was forbidden by the Roman government to cross the Rubicon, but when the government ordered Caesar to give up his troops and power, Caesar crossed the stream and conquered Gaul. "Crossing the Rubicon" is a phrase that means to make a decision that can't be changed. In Rubicam's Business School there must be a decision that has to be made. Laura and the other students can stay in the school and have a chance of becoming rich business people, or they can drop out and possibly be failures.
