Curriculum Materials

Deaf Culture

Informational Chunk: HIP Magazine

This magazine is for all children with hearing losses, ages 8-14. It features many things that can teach children about Deaf culture, such as Deaf role models, as well as technologies and strategies to help them in school.

I find this a very interesting idea for classroom use, because it comes with a companion teaching guide called Hip Tips.It seems it would help hh/d children build thier self-esteem and realize Deaf people can be successful. It incorporates building language skills also, through fun things like puzzles and games. As I said, it is directly geared towards them to use in the classroom.
