A. Cooperating Teacher/ Classroom information
Contextual Description: This high school
is located in Akron, Ohio. The teacher is a child of Deaf parents. She
has worked at this high school for approximately eleven years. She previously
taught elementary school deaf students. It is considered to be an urban
area school. During homeroom, there can be as many as eleven students present.
This classroom is considered to be total communication. However, throughout
the day, class attendance ranges from one to four students, depending on
the class period. The classes are made up of Caucasian, African American,
and Asian Students. There are both deaf and hard of hearing students in
the classroom. Some of the students are mainstreamed in the regular education
classroom with interpreters.
