$65,600.00 - $87,516.00 (Residential facilities are provided
for the superintendent at a minimum cost)
Term of Employment:
Master's degree required, a doctorate in education preferred.
A minimum of eight years of employment in educational programs for the
deaf and hard of hearing students K-12 with a minimum of four years of
administrative experience required.
Experience in management of educational programs, supervision of staff,
operation of school facilities, development of comprehensive budgets.
Demonstrated organizational, management and interpersonal skills.
Summary of Work and Responsibilities:
Administration of educational, operational, residential, support programs
and services designed to meet the needs of over 250 deaf and hard of hearing
Provide direction for the provision of outreach services throughout the
state in accordance with the school's mission to serve as the state's center
Lead the school in meeting entrepreneurial objectives including but not
limited to collaborative efforts with other educational and state agencies
Knowledge and Skills Needed:
Knowledge of components of Deaf Culture e.g., sign language, residential
life and, the unique needs of the Deaf Community. Knowledge of the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Proficiency in sign language required.
Must possess or be eligible for New Jersey certification as a school administrator.
