11/25
Sent an email
to all members to inform them of the benefits of the
previous Faculty Development Workshop
and encourage them to participate
in the next one. Finished
a letter to be sent to every DHH program (72)
to explain the ACE-DHH technology
grant and motivate them to participate
in the upcoming years’ activities.
11/18
Requested mailing
labels from Margaret Finnigan. Reviewed the web
technology survey. Checked
all the goal areas to determine who was on a
team and who we might want to contact
personally to participate next
year. Began a letter to each
program to promote participation for our
next grant. Sent speech syllabi
to Sam Slike.
11/12
Attended the
Faculty Development Team meeting at Clarke School f/t Deaf
and the two day Faculty Development
Workshop at Smith College. The
meeting focused on a survey to
be sent to all ACE DHH members. I will
be responsible to contact Margaret
Finnigen, Membership Chair, and have
mailing labels sent to Donna Mertens
for this purpose. As a participant
in the workshop, I definitely increased
my skills in the use of
Powerpoint.
11/4
Followed-up on
the meeting with Katharine Stephans-Slemenda at the
Southeast Regional Conference on
Deafness regarding her questions on
budget. Also discussed the
composition on the different syllabi teams.
Contacted Laurence Hayes and recommended
specific members from ACE-DHH
to finish his team. Discussed
team ideas with Alan Marvelli.
10/28
Continue to have
my weekly contact with Harold Johnson. Discussed the
budget and the problems associated
with a decrease in funds. How we
might change some objectives and
what areas to modify to absorb the
decrease.
10/21
Contacted Katharine
Stephans-Slemenda to inquire about the syllabi teams
and suggestioned names of members
who want to be involved. Discussed
what the limit is for how many
members can be on each team and types of
activities they might do to complete
their tasks. What technologies
could be employed to interact with
one another and the funding for team
meetings.
10/14
Contacted Richard
Lytle regarding a time slot for grant presentations at
the 2000 conference in New Orleans.
Requested four hours for all goal
leaders and their teams to update
the general membership and demonstrate
their products. The time
provided will be from 8:00am to noon.
Referred members to appropriate
team leaders.
10/7
Answered questions
from members about what teams they may want to join
and what the teams will actually
be doing. Continue to reach out to
members via phone messages and
email and direct them to the appropriate
leaders. Solicited names
from other ACE-DHH members who might have
specific expertise in a particular
subject area and suggested they
become involved to assist the team.
9/30/99
Response
has been good this week, many people have decided to join a
team. Maintain contact
with Katharine and try to answer questions.
Have been in touch with Alan for
the same purposes. Continue my weekly
meetings with Harold. Wrote
the President’s message for the ACE-DHH
newsletter and referred to the
grant in terms of all the positive
benefits for members and updated
them on what...
9/23/99
Wrote and sent
a lengthy message to everyone on the CED listserv to once
again motivate faculty to join
the teams. Included the benefits of
collaborating with colleagues,
the monetary reward and the opportunity
to receive travel funds to attend
the ACE-DHH conference in New
Orleans. Returned several
phone calls and emails regarding the
composition of teams.
9/16/99
After
several conversations with Katharine Stephans-Slemenda, she has
accepted our request to be the
Team Leader for the syllabi team.
Explained duties/responsibilities
and the budget. Recommended various
individuals who have expressed
interest in being the lead person for
select syllabi and will continue
to make direct contact with these
faculty. Sent numerous emails
to encourage members to participate on
one of the teams.
9/9/99
Focus on team leaders and how I can be of assistance to them. Search
for syllabi team leader.
This person must be knowledgeable of the
ACE-DHH membership and have excellent
organizational skills because this
is the largest of the goal groups.
Consulted, via phone, with several
members and Harold to discuss who
might be interested in this position.
9/2/99
