Summer 1998 Seminar: Educational Assessment & Intervention w/Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Infants/Toddlers & Their Families

Hello, my name is Dawn and I am a teacher of the deaf/hard-of-hearing. I have just spent the last eight weeks with 4 of my colleagues who are pictured above along with Dr. Harold Johnson who is the instructor of this seminar.

The 5 of us came here from different parts of the United States to expand our professional expertise to include the effective understanding and support of deaf/hard-of-hearing infants/toddlers and their families. Through out this eight week program we have created portfolios and participated in the implementation of a "Deaf Mentor" Program. We also learned to write grants, had the opportunity to participate in home visits with families and their deaf/hard-of-hearing infants/toddlers, and built a network for obtaining and sharing information, and became friends as well as colleagues.

It is hard to leave Kent after these past eight weeks, because of the friendships we have all built. We each will be taking with us information, experiences, and skills that will help us all to be better teachers as we travel back to our respective states and implement our new ideas.
