The ACE-DHH Board approved two awards at its meeting last spring to be presented at Annual Business meetings. Nominations for these awards, the Sr. Mary Delaney Emeritus Life Membership Award and the Innovation in Teaching Teachers of Students who are DHH Award, are being sought by members of the Awards Committee. A description of each of the awards follows including criteria for eligibility.
Sr. Mary Delaney Emeritus Life Membership Award
The purpose of this award is to honor the distinguished career of an ACE-DHH member in teaching, research and service in the preparation of teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The nominee currently must be a faculty member in a program for preparing teachers of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and must have been an active professional for a minimum of 20 years. Nomination by ten members of the ACE-DHH should be accompanied by a short biographical sketch. All rights and privileges of membership are provided for life to the recipient, without payment of dues.

Innovation in Teaching Teachers of Students who are DHH Award
The ACE-DHH wishes to recognize innovation in the development and dissemination of new designs for courses and curricula. A paper of not more than 15 pages describing the innovation in the area of preparing elementary, middle or high school teachers of students who are deaf or hard of hearing should be submitted to the Awards Committee. The winning paper will be published in the ACE-DHH newsletter or a separate monograph. A plaque and a cash award will be given to the recipient.
Seven copies of the paper and an abstract regarding the innovation to be considered for the Innovation in Teaching Award should be sent to Ann Powers at the address below along with a cover letter indicating the intent to be considered for the award. Deadline: January 5, 1997.
The six member Awards Committee and the chair will review all nominations and will submit their recommendations to the Executive Board of ACE-DHH by February 1, 1998.
