This is a response to Cathie's question about four-year interpreting degrees. It is, admittedly, a bit late :) I am working on getting into the Signed Language Interpreting Program at the University of New Mexico. Their main web page is: http://www.unm.edu/ and the link to the Linguistics Department degree information is: http://www.unm.edu/~linguist/degree_menu.html - although, your best bet to find out about detailed information regarding this program probably would be Sherman Wilcox, email: wilcox@unm.edu - It is an excellent, though small, program, and I would recommend it to anyone who is ready for a challenge. Sorry about taking so long on the response, and I hope this will help.
