Push and Pull Basket
Let your child place two or three stuffed animals or dolls in a laundry basket. Then show your child how to push the basket around the room. Let your child push the basket wherever he or she pleases. Then ask your child to push the basket to a specific place in the room such as a window, bookcase, or door.
Inside or Outside?
Place an object, such as a toy car inside the box. Next place the car outside the box and say that the car is outside the box. Repeat three or four times. Then give the car to your child and ask him or her to place it outside or inside the box.
Make a bubble mixture by combining 2 cups liquid dish washing detergent, 6 cups water, and 3/4 cup corn syrup. Use a bubble wand to show your child how to blow bubbles. Then hold the bubble wand in front of your child and encourage him or her to blow bubbles.
Around the Rim
Set out a tall plastic container. Attach several slot-type clothespins to its rim. Show your child how to take the clothespins off the rim and then how to put them back on again. Praise your child for his or her efforts.
Give your child one or two small saucepans with lids. Let him or her experiment with putting the lids on and taking them off the pans. Then encourage your child to discover that the small pan fits inside the larger one, and that the lids don't fit all the pans.
