Clap and Click
Have fun with baby as you clap hands, wave, click tongues, and smack lips while singing the song “They’re a Part of Me” below. Encourage b aby to imitate your actions.
They're a Part of Me
I can make my hands go clap, clap, clap,
Clap, clap, clap,
Clap, clap, clap.
I can make my hands go clap, clap, clap.
They're a part of me
Additional verses: I can make my tongue go click; lips go kiss; hands go bye.
Sew several 2-inch pieces of velcro onto an 18-by-24-inch of heavy canvas cloth. Sew the matching pieces of velcro onto small cloth
objects such as a sock, a mitten, a doll, a 3-inch carpet sample, or a washcloth. Attach these objects to the cloth poster by pressing the velcro pieces together. Hang the poster on the wall near the floor. Show baby how to pull off each object. Reattach the items to the chart. Baby will enjoy pulling them off again and listening to the sound made by the velcro when it separates.
A Lovely Sight
Place a non-breakable mirror near the floor. Baby will be motivated to crawl to the mirror to look at his or her reflection.
Join baby in dropping wooden blocks into a large, empty metal pan. Baby will delight in the sound made by the blocks hitting the metal surface. Empty the metal container and encourage baby to repeat the activity.
