South Carolina School for the Deaf Curriculum

Keywords: Curriculum Materials, Deaf Education, K-12

Description: South Carolina School for the Deaf curriculum was created in the summer of 1996. It is geared towards a Bilingual-Bicultural environment. The children are exposed to Deaf role models and cultural ideals. This curriculum enables the children to have ASL as their first language and English as their second. The curriculum is for deaf students and also includes the state expectations for hearing students.

Insight: (Why is this important?)
There was not a curriculum for Deaf students. This curriculum is made by teachers of the deaf who are with these children daily and know their needs.
