Sign-Sation

Key Words: Deaf Education Information, Organizations

SIGN-SATION is a wonderful choir of children who perform songs in sign language. In 1996 they performed the National Anthem in sign from the stadium of the Trenton Thunder to the Philadelphia Spectrum. After signing the National Anthem at the National Minor League All-Star Game in August 1996, televised on ESPN2, they were congratulated by NJ Gov. Christine Whitman and photographed with her. They performed several patriotic songs in sign during the Olympic Torch Relay in Morrisville, Pa.

The choir is currently up to 35 members ranging in age from 7 to 12 years of age. They are directed by children's entertainer Cathy Ivins who often performs stories in sign language at schools, libraries and events throughout Bucks County, Pa, and Mercer County, NJ. Her award-winning show "Once Upon A Flannelboard" features interactive stories.

SIGN-SATION is accompanied by the voice of Beck Rush from Opera International, along with guest singers and Director Cathy Ivins. Also available for singing is St. Michael the Archangel's Children's Choir Joyful Noise.
