My name is Joanna Ledbetter and I am a student at Lewis and Clark in the Deaf Ed. program. I am working on a paper about self-determination, self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-advocacy development in Deaf students. (That's a mouthful!) I am finding (and I was warned before I began this project) that there really isn't a lot out there.

I am asking for help if anyone can think of resources or research, as obscure as it may seem, please send me the information! I will deal with deciding whether I can use it or not! Anything will be helpful.

Thanks!

Joanna Ledbetter

Joanna,

You might want to call the Mainstream Center at the Clarke School for the Deaf. Carol Atteberry, a teacher of the deaf, developed a curriculum entitled "The Other Curriculum". It covers areas of need not typically part of an academic curriculum. It covers areas such as self esteem and self advocacy etc.

I love to use it, BUT I can't seem to find mine right now! Well good luck. The # to the Clarke School is 413-584-3450....just ask for the mainstream center.
