The Teacher Preparation: Deaf Education (TPD) Program at Western Oregon University offers students a solid foundation for making significant contributions to the teaching profession.
Course content and training methods are in
keeping with current research findings and best practices in deaf education.
It is our goal that our graduates become successful leaders in the field.
One hundred percent of graduates from this program find employment in such
professional
settings as residential schools, self-contained classrooms, resource
rooms, special classes and itinerant settings; or to function as consultants
to teachers with deaf and hard of hearing students in regular classrooms.
Applicants must be proficient in American Sign Language and hold an elementary or secondary teaching degree or equivalent course work. The TPD program also accept students who do not currently hold regular education teaching licenses and they will take a 12-credit block of general teacher education courses. Classes will begin in the 2001 fall session.
A Bachelor's degree is required to apply, as well
as proficiency in ASL.
APPLICATION DUE DATE: MARCH 15, 2001
* Tuition waivers and/or stipends are available to qualified students
contingent upon continued federal funding.
