 Salary Range:
 30,000-34,000 depending on degree/experience

 M-F, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 Term of Employment:
 Full school year--starting date August 21, 2000

 Qualifications:
 Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
 Endorsement in HI
 Ability to be flexible and adapt to different learning styles/communication
 needs of students
 Proficient in American Sign Language
 Capable of coordinating services with mainstream regular education
 teachers/vocational programs
 Good communication skills with parents and other professionals
 Excellent organizational skills

 Summary of Work and Responsibilities:
  Northview Public Schools maintains a total communication program for
 deaf/hard of hearing students within Kent County.  The full time staff person
 working at the Middle School is responsible for scheduling, teaching
 self-contained classes, and providing both on-site consultation and resources for mainstream teachers.
 This person must enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals--both
professionals and students--and must be willing to work cooperatively for the
 best academic programming possible for students.  Northview Program for the Deaf/HH works
 to provide a culturally Deaf environment for its deaf/hard of hearing students
 and seeks individuals who recognize the imortance of this aspect of personal development in
 students in addition to academic skills.

 Knowledge and Skills Needed:
 Individuals with exceptional ASL skills as well as the ability to develop
 lessons and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of deaf/hard of hearing
 students are encourage to apply.
