Summary of Work and Responsibilities:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Deaf Education, Early Childhood, or related
Kentucky Teacher Certification or eligibility.
SKI*HI and High Scope Certification or willingness to acquire.
Knowledge and Skills Needed:
To provide center-based programming for deaf and/or hard of hearing children
including language, communication, and social development.
Provide home-based programming for families on a weekly basis;
Collaborate with school districts, teachers, other education agencies,
physicians, audiologists and others in the identification and referral
Write Individual Family Service Plans and Individual Education Plans;
Participate in Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) meetings;
Assess student abilities using a variety of assessment techniques and instruments.

Training/experience in early childhood education or willingness to acquire;
Use English and American Sign Language in teaching and working with students
Minimum Sign Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) rating of "Intermediate".
SCPI rating of "Advanced" preferred. Expected to attain SCPI raging of
"Advanced" within four years of employment as part of tenure consideration.
