Qualifications:

IQAS ratings of novice interpreter & novice transliterater, or IQAS
III or equiv.,

high school diploma or equiv.,
-
demonstrated proficiency in English and ASL,
-
previous exp. working w/children or adults in a paid or voluntary position.
Preferred:
-
Associate degree in interpreting; cert as an interpreter by national professional
certifying body.
Summary of Work and Responsibilities:
-
Facilitate communication between the deaf/HOH student and others.

Plan & prepare to interpret the daily learning experience
Knowledge and Skills Needed:
-
Knowledge of child & adolescent development;
-
good planning & organizational skills,
-
good communication skills both written & verbal;
-
ability to be courteous & tactful
