 193 day contract

Qualifications:

•  BA/BS degree in deaf education, human services, or a related area.
• AA/AS degree with comparable experience may be substituted.
• Three years experience working with the Deaf.
• Knowledge of the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to identify student problems and to provide resolution to such problems.
• Fluency in sign language.

•  Supervises students during non-classroom hours.
• Provides instructional and recreational activities for proper social, physical, and intellectual development.
• Trains students for the transition to the adult world.
• Provides tutoring
• Acts as a liaison between residence program and other campus programs.
• Receives and provides oral and written reports.
• Plans and reviews a residential life treatment program with the School's Student Assistance Center staff.
• Counsels students and responds to questions and problems.
• Uses initiative and independent judgment to resolve difficult and unique problems or emergencies as they arise.
• Maintains control through disciplinary actions where necessary and reinforces positive behavior.
• Transports and chaperones students during trips.
