Qualifications:
-
BA/BS degree in deaf education, human services, or a related area.

AA/AS degree with comparable experience may be substituted.

Three years experience working with the Deaf.

Knowledge of the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing children.

Excellent interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to identify student problems and to provide resolution to such
problems.

Fluency in sign language.
Summary of Work and Responsibilities:
-
Supervises students during non-classroom hours.
-
Provides instructional and recreational activities for proper social, physical,
and intellectual development.
-
Trains students for the transition to the adult world.
-
Provides tutoring
-
Acts as a liaison between residence program and other campus programs.
-
Receives and provides oral and written reports.
-
Plans and reviews a residential life treatment program with the School's
Student Assistance Center staff.

Counsels students and responds to questions and problems.
-
Uses initiative and independent judgment to resolve difficult and unique
problems or emergencies as they arise.
-
Maintains control through disciplinary actions where necessary and reinforces
positive behavior.

Transports and chaperones students during trips.
