Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
-
Doctorate in Special Education/Deaf Education or related field, but evidence
of substantial progress toward completion of doctorate will be considered.
Doctorate required by time of tenure review.

Fluency in American Sign Language.
-
Experience teaching deaf students in a multi-ethnic school setting.
-
Commitment to a Bilingual (ASL/ENGLISH) - Bicultural Philosophy of educating
deaf students.

Knowledge of generic special education and pre-service preparation of teachers.
-
Experience with exceptional pupils from diverse cultural and linguistic
populations.
-
Evidence of recent scholarly activity.
DESIRABLE:

Experience in practicum and supervision.

Evidence of successful university teaching.

Experience in teacher preparation.
-
Classroom teaching experience with DH-H students who have multiple disabilities.

Recent publication.
-
Evidence of professional rapport with school district personnel.

Evidence of positive relationships with students and colleagues.

Grant-writing experience.

Knowledge of Speech and Audiology, and its role in the education of Deaf
and Hard of Hearing children.
Summary of Work and Responsibilities:

Teach courses in the area of Deafness and generic special education.

Supervise student teachers and interns in the area of Deafness.

Participate in departmental curriculum and program development.

Advise master's and credential students.
