Objectives:

 

1.         Provide an on-line source of information about the real world of teaching and informational support for graduate students through cyber-mentor interactions with a classroom teacher.

 

2.         Provide classroom teachers with an on-line source of information about current practices and research which are presented in University teacher-training programs through an email cyber-mentor program with graduate students.

 

Procedures:

 

a.  Course instructor will pair up graduate students with classroom teachers who have expressed an interest in participating.

 

b.  Graduate students and classroom teachers will contact each other on a weekly basis to discuss issues which have been raised in the university course.

 

Technology Used:  Graduate students and classroom teachers will use email to conduct the

cyber-mentor exchanges.

 

Evaluation Strategies/POST DATA:

 

1.         Graduate students will maintain a log of email exchanges.

 

2.         Graduate students will describe their cyber-mentorUs position, type of program, size of program, etc.   They will summarize the email exchanges as to the topics and information gained or shared.

 

3.         Classroom teachers will send an email summary to the course instructor

which provides feedback regarding the cyber-mentor program.
